Intro Page: Flash Navigation

These pages are to demonstrate how 'Macromedia Flash' technology can be used to build dynamic site naviagtion menus.

Please try the various buttons on the left, especially the 'submenu' ones, to see how the navigation for many pages can be contained within a relativly small space. It would be easy to fit up to six or seven small navigation buttons under each submenu enabling around 30 or so web pages to be navigated from a set of five main menu buttons without any need for page scrolling.

For some people, Flash has a reputation for making sites slow to download. This is underserved. Flash is sometimes used in conjuction with overly complex graphics, and it tends to be these, rather than Flash itself, that slow the site up. For this demonstration, we have kept the button graphics and the pages fairly plain so that you can experience the speed of Flash itself.

These buttons were programed by HowesComms in Flash 5. The size of the Flash file is about 6k. You can have much fancier button graphics on your site if you wish!
